Nebraska Corn Board elects officers

LINCOLN, NE – Jon Holzfaster, Paxton, Nebraska, has been re-elected to serve as the Chairman of the Nebraska Corn Board (NCB) for the 2008-2009 term.  Holzfaster raises corn, wheat, soybeans and operates a background feed yard on the family farm based in Perkins County.  Holzfaster is a LEAD XIII graduate and majored in Ag Economics at the University of Nebraska.  In addition to serving as chairman, he will serve on the NCB’s Research and Executive committees.  He also serves on the National Corn Grower Association’s Ethanol Action Team.

Dennis Gengenbach of Smithfield was elected as Vice-Chairman of the NCB.  Gengenbach produces corn and soybeans and operates a cow-calf business.  In addition to being vice-chairman, Dennis will chair the NCB’s Research Committee and will serve on the Executive Committee.  Dennis is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Animal Science and has Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology from Cornell University.  

Alan Tiemann was re-elected to serve as Secretary/Treasurer.  Tiemann, from Seward, will also serve on the NCB’s Market Development Committee and the Executive Committee.  Alan raises corn and soybeans on a combination of irrigated and dry land.  He was recently re-elected to a two-year term to serve on the U.S. Grains Council (USGC) Board of Directors.  

The Nebraska Corn Board is a self-help program, funded and managed by Nebraska corn farmers. Producers invest in the program at a rate of ¼ of a cent per bushel of corn sold. Nebraska corn checkoff funds are invested in programs of market development, research and education.
