Nebraska Corn Checkoff Update
Tiemann New NCB Chairman, Officers Elected: The Nebraska Corn Board (NCB) elected new officers during their August 13 board meeting. Elected to the position of chairman was Alan Tiemann, at-large farmer director from Seward, NE; vice-chairman is Dennis Gengenbach, district 6 farmer director from Smithfield; and secretary / treasurer is Tim Scheer, district 5 farmer director from St. Paul. Completing the executive committee is past chairman, Jon Holzfaster, district 8 farmer director from Paxton.
NCB, Corn States Team Up with Ethanol Industry on Blender Pump Campaign: The Nebraska Corn Board, along with the Kansas Corn Commission, Kentucky Corn Promotion Council, Missouri Corn Merchandising Council, South Dakota Corn Utilization Council and National Corn Growers Association have teamed up with the American Coalition for Ethanol and Renewable Fuels Association on a nationwide blender pump campaign. The campaign, titled BYOEthanol (Blend Your Own), is an unprecedented campaign aimed at installing 5,000 blender pumps over the next three years. Blender pumps allow owners of flex fuel vehicles to choose predetermined blends between e10 and e85.
NCB Discusses Agriculture with State FFA Officers: Don Hutchens, executive director and Kelly Brunkhorst, ag program manager of the Nebraska Corn Board addressed the Nebraska State FFA Officers during a recent meeting in preparation for their business and industry meetings. Updates included crop production, legislation and attacks on the industry. NCB annually provides the usage of a FFV for the officers and various proficiency awards.
State Fair, Husker Harvest Days Displays to highlight Sustaining Innovation: Plan to stop by the Nebraska Corn Board’s booths during the upcoming Nebraska State Fair and Husker Harvest Days to see the latest on what producers are doing in the way of sustaining innovation. Both displays will adopt information from the Nebraska Corn Farmers – Sustaining Innovation campaign that was recently launched. The NCB will be in Ag Hall during the Nebraska State Fair and in the Commodity Building during Husker Harvest Days.
