NEBRASKA CORN CHECKOFF UPDATE
NCB Gets Wired with Social Media: The Nebraska Corn Board has moved into the social media avenue as a way to reach an ever expanding electronic population. In today’s busy lifestyle, social media is becoming the best way to gather and provide information, news and current updates. It’s important for farmers and agribusinesses alike to become involved in social media to dispel rumors/myths about agriculture and to share agriculture’s story to consumers. Follow NCB on Twitter at www.twitter.com/NECornBoard; become a Facebook fan of Nebraska Corn Board at www.facebook.com; read the blog at www.NebraskaCorn.blogspot.com; and join LinkedIn to become part of the NCB group at www.linkedin.com.
NCB Sponsoring “Retained Ownership: Advantages of Feeding in Nebraska” Webinar: The Nebraska Corn Board is partnering with the Nebraska Department of Agriculture to provide an opportunity for cattlemen across the country to hear from UNL experts Drs. Darrell Mark and Galen Erickson on the economics and feeding opportunities for beef in Nebraska. The webinar is December 16th, and more information can be found at www.agr.ne.gov.
Congratulations to Chief Ethanol on 25 Years: The Nebraska Corn Board provided support in recognition of Chief Ethanol’s 25 years of producing ethanol here in Nebraska. Attendees heard from various industry leaders along with Senator Ben Nelson. Attendees to the celebration received a commemorative corn based plastic mugs.
NCB Presents During Past Conferences: NCB executive director Don Hutchens had the opportunity to discuss the “Nebraska Farmers – Sustaining Innovation” campaign during the recently held Ag-ceptional Women’s Conference in Norfolk. In addition, Hutchens spoke to the LEAD XXVIII class during an evening dinner and Randy Klein, director of market development, spoke to the class during a panel discussion. Both covered issues that are being addressed by the NCB, negative attacks on the industry and market development campaigns.
Thanks to Virtually Every Ag Group in Nebraska: The integrity of checkoff dollars was defended thanks to the support of agriculture and their communication to state senators, according to Alan Tiemann, chairman of the Nebraska Corn Board. These checkoff dollars were never intended to be used for anything other than market development, promotion, research and education. “Nothing has galvanized agriculture in Nebraska more than this issue.” Nebraska Corn Checkoff Update is published monthly for corn industry leaders and others in Nebraska.
